ELA30275 lies approximately 50 km south east from the Sherwin Iron Ltd (ASX:SHR) Global Resource of (488.1Mt @ 41.7% Fe, 29.2% SiO2, 0.004% P, 2.6 Al2O3 and 8.1% LOI) and 120 km south east of the Western Desert Resource Ltd (ASX:WDR) Roper Bar Mining Operations (611Mt @ 40.3% Fe, 29.9% SiO2, 0.003% P, 2.1 Al2O3)
Within the Roper Iron Project, the Sherwin Iron Formation is mapped by the NTGS which has hosted over 1.09 billion tonnes of iron resources within the Roper Iron Field.
A totalling 16.29 sq km in total area of the Sherwin Formation is hosed within the Project with the most extensive iron bearing lithology mapped at 9.21 km in strike by 1 km in width – all the mapped Sherwin Formation within the area has no iron exploration conducted. Western Desert Resources has an estimated 100 km2 of outcrop of the target Sherwin Formation which hosts extensive hematite iron ore horizons.
Excellent potential to define iron resources based on the lack of iron exploration and the outcropping Sherwin Formation which hosts iron ore mineralisation of nearby iron ore producing mines
Western Desert Resources has a current operation cost is less than AUD$60/t ore with an exploration target of 2 to 2.5 billion tonnes @ 40% to 60% Fe
Metallurgical testwork has identified flotation as appropriate beneficiation technique: extremely efficient at rejecting silica
